The Guide is up:

28 Nosler only

I need your favorite accuracy loads. Please provide:

Bullet weight and Mfg.
Powder and charge in grains
Cartridge OAL, yes OAL (not to the ogive)
Primer
Brass Mfg.
Velocity
Barrel length
Freebore of your chamber
Comments on function, brass life, accuracy, temp stability, and bullet performance on game if you have it(please keep this data driven not emotional). Please note if using coatings on your bullets.

I am going to start working on compiling cartridge guides as I get time. Please only provide well vetted data. No I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend...

If you want to include some kill photos with your rifle I may try to include a few in the guide.

Been very happy with the rifle in terms of the balance of weight, performance and accuracy. Started to see a heavy bolt lift at 79 grains and backed off. I have plenty of velocity to put down everything that I hunt at respectable distances. The ELD-X has performed exactly how I would want: penetrate and then grenade inside of the cavity turning vitals into jelly. I had one pass through on an elk at 450, but the lungs were still shredded.
Pic below is my favorite bull just because of the character. Typicals are too pretty.....I like my Frankenbull mounted on a rusted steel plate cut out in the shape of New Mexico.

Bullet - 195gr Berger EOL Elite Hunter
Powder - N570 83.3gr
COAL - 3.71
Primer - Federal GM215M
Brass - ADG on its 3rd firing
Velocity - 3035fps
Barrel Length - 26” Proof Sendero
Freebore - Not sure. Used Uni-Throater to cut for 195s seated w/ boattail at neck/shoulder junction.
Bullet tips cleaned out with DWDP71 welding tip cleaner.

Have killed several mule deer with this particular load. Closest was 200 yds, head shot. Enough said.

Furthest was 480 on a mule deer buck. One and done. Late in day no pics. Deer was quartering away, bullet went in behind front shoulder and came out opposite side in front of shoulder. Tennis ball size exit. Several whitetail does for management hunts, same results. If ya hit the front shoulder, ya lose a lot of meat. Same as any.

Bullet - 195gr Berger EOL Elite Hunter
Powder - Retumbo 76.5 gr
COAL - Will Update
Freebore .280
Primer - Federal GM215M
Brass - Nosler
Velocity - 3070fps
Barrel Length - 28” Proof Sendero

The above rifle's chamber was the second that was cut with my reamer and ended up on the tight side, no stuck cases but I do get clickers from time to time. This rifle has taken game animals from 30-710 yds. The only marginal performance has been on a deer at 450 yds, bullet expansion did not occur until well into second lung with only a pinhole through the first, animal ran close to 500 yds before expiring

Bullet - 195gr Berger EOL Elite Hunter
Powder - Retumbo 79.5 gr
COAL - Will Update
Freebore .280
Primer - Federal GM215M
Brass - Nosler
Velocity - 3020 fps
Barrel Length - 26”Brux #4

This is a loner gun so I don't shoot this one much but is still a solid shooting rifle but it is pushing 400 rds down the barrel and sows some noticeable fire cracking.

Antelope doe at 50 yds there was an exit hole the size of a medium sized cantaloupe.

Bullet weight and Mfg. Berger 195g
Powder and charge in grains- RL-33 80.5g
Cartridge OAL- 3.701”
Primer- Federal 215M
Brass Mfg. Nosler
Velocity 2,959 ES-11
Barrel length- 26" Proof Carbon Research 1-8Twist
Freebore of your chamber- Not sure, Rhian Mantha Reamer

Brass 100 pieces starting to feel loose primers pockets after 3 firings on every piece.
Non Coated Bullets
Gun Is super accurate 3 shot groups @ 100 yards 0.169" groups
Fully Titanium Pierce Action & Bolt- I think pressure comes on sooner with titanium on titanium, as I seem to be on the slower side of speeds but the groups were to good to chase for higher speeds.

Yukon Moose 676 yards, 2 shots in the lungs and he tipped over!

This rifle shoots under a 1/4” groups. Shot a group with it yesterday for the first time at 1,000 yards. Measures 3.1” at 1,000. Would’ve been in the 2” range but was shooting in variable 10-15 mph crosswinds.
Posting a picture of the rifle and the first 1,000 yard 3-shot group below.

Custom 28 Nosler built by Quarter Minute Magnums Lone peak TI action Proof 26” 1-8 twist sendaro carbon barrel

Load
Bullet- Berger 195 EOL
Powder- IMR 8133
Charge- 78.8 GR
COAL- 3.665”
Primer- Fed 215 GMM
Brass- ADG
Velocity- 3020
Freebore- .280

Built by quarter minute magnums and accuracy is outstanding iv only ran the 195EOL in it since I got it 150 rounds down the barrel only took 40 rounds to do the ladder test and seating depth to find this load original load was 81.2 grains and after about 100 rounds followed Ryan’s advice backed the load down to the original velocity and accuracy came right back and was actually a slight bit better. Gun consistently shoots under half minute and on the right day it will shoot into quarter minute. I have shot this load from 90 to 15 degrees and have had no issues with temp stability of the 8133. 3 white tails with this rifle so far 2 shot by my self and 1 by my son furthest was 580 and the closest was at 150 and all one shot kills a lil more meat damage than I’d like but who’s complaining. So far I have been more than happy with this rifle and load I can’t say how components will last iv only shot 150 of the 200 brass I have but no excessive flattening of the primers still very rounded so I don’t see brass being much of an issue should get plenty of life from them. Only issue I have with this rifle is I don’t get to shoot it as much as I’d like every time I plan to shoot it I change my mind before I do because the short barrel life of the 28 I can’t see waisting it to shoot paper or steel.

I have worked up an outstanding handload from my Gunwerks 28 Nosler. I have a ranch where I have targets (gongs) set up at 100,200,300, and 400 yards, can shoot from a bench in my barn from a lead sled, so take most of the human elements out of inaccuracies. Unfortunately, my stuff is up at the ranch, so I may not be able to fill in all the blanks, but here you go:

Bullet weight and Mfg. Berger 180 Grain VLD Hunter
Powder and charge in grains: 77.5 grains of H1000
Cartridge OAL, yes OAL (not to the ogive): I trim to factory specs (whatever they are, don't remember)
Primer: Winchester WLRM
Brass Mfg. Gunwerks (so probably Nosler)
Velocity: 3050 fps
Barrel length: 22 inch, 8.5 twist.
Freebore of your chamber: Don't know.

I have shot about 150 rounds through the rifle, with the last 100 or so being with the above load. I simply don't miss the gongs, ever, despite the conditions. I do use the Gunwerks REVIC app to dial in the dope, but I have settled on this load and just reloaded another 100 rounds.

Does anyone have a picture of some 28 Nosler ammo for the cartridge guide that they would like to share?
