I have only had a few hours with this but will be testing next to the BR10 over the next few months. Ask questions here

I’ve been waiting for this. Revic told me about this earlier this year and it sounds awesome. 12x in a 10x body. No size difference or weight even. Not sure about the weight but I think that’s what they said.

How’s the ballistic calculator? I struggled with getting the BR4 range finger to align with the outputs of my Kestrel.

It’s still the same engine. I’ve been using it for years with zero noted issues.

I have not used a kestrel for ballistics in probably three years. When I was using the 5700 for ballistics I never had a problem. I have compared several, Shooter, Revic, ABM, 4DOF, etc I have never found a significant difference except the 4dof in my experience is far off on angle.

Do you have any field experience with the Leica Pro AB's and newer EL Ranges? If so, how do these compare optically as far as brightness, contrast, hue, and clarity? If you were to takes these or the 10's over the other 2 brands, do you feel like you'd be leaving anything on the table in and performance category that would negativity impact your hunt in any way?

I have a set of Sig Kilo3k LRF binos and the glass makes me hurt lol. I'm extremely torn between the Revic 12x42, EL 12x42, and the new unreleased Leica Pro AB 10x42s. I have 0 experience with anything Revic. I've spend about 5 minutes looking through the EL 10x42 and the current Leica 10x42 AB pros in the store. The EL's were significantly easier and brighter in store more me to look through. The lack of compatibility bothers me a lot though.

I have looked through the other optics in question. I think the Revics are vey close in clarity and brightness to the EL. The other characteristics are far more personal preference than an actual pro or con. The EL Range has been around awhile and I don't own them. I think that is all you need to know about which I prefer.

Thank you for the information. I almost have half a mind to purchase all 3 to look through them side by side and return the ones I don't like.

I think for most on this site the most important part of the optics being discussed is actually giving information to hit a target in as little time as possible and the Revic destroys the optics in question. For me the Leica and the Swaro don't belong in the discussion. The Tract does not have very good glass so it removes it from the discussion for me and the Leupold is not very mature as in no run time on products worth discussing in this manner. The Vectronix could be an option worth discussing but I have no run time in the field with one.

I don't disagree with most of that statement.

I have no problem with buy once, cry once lol. I'm not an alpha glass snob at all. The best binos I have ever owned are Leupold BX4 12x50's. Very easy on my eyes to look through for longer periods. I get about maybe 3-5 minutes on the Sig Kilo3k's and I have to put them down because my head starts to hurt. I just want to make sure which ever pair I choose is better than what I currently have optically as well. I don't glass for hours on end but if I had to I wanna be able to. And I don't wanna sacrifice any legal light in the morning or evening if I can help it.

You know, have my cake and eat it too lol.

These are open for sale today. Check them out if you are in the market for 12x binos. I will be testing them over the next few weeks on a CO antelope hunt.

At 69 guess Im not as steady as I used to be. After using the Sig Zulu 6 stabilizing binos for a couple years I can’t use any non-stabilized without a tripod, and I put the spotter on the tripod. But the means I have to use handheld rf .

I personally use the Revic BR4 and I purchased it just before the BR10 model was announced. I use 10 x 42 EL binos .I’m not really sold on the bino/rangefinder concept yet. I did notice that you made a comment earlier that the Tract models “ does not have good glass” . I haven’t looked thru the Revics or the Tract. I know Tract promotes Schott glass which I think Ziess uses. Can you clarify your experience?

Having X glass does not make them good quality. The overall package of the optic has just as much to do with optical performance as the glass itself. I did not think the pair I looked through was on par with competition. Maybe I need to order my own and do further testing?

When using bino rf I struggled having to pull off rifle to rerange vs holding position and ranging one hand with handheld. Probsbly be fine ranging one hand with binos with practice?????

I would not know as I never looked into either model. It seems they both try to market them as comparable to Swarovski. I’ve got a Revic scope on a GW and after using Tract scopes in a LR class I liked what I saw and ordered one for another rifle. I don’t see much of any difference. Neither scope compares to my Khales scopes. I think both Revic and Tract scopes are made in Japan. It seems however that the range finder for Revic is Japanese and the Tract is Chinese. Just a wild guess here but when Tract wanted the German Schott glass they might have had sourcing issues from the OEM in Japan. I guess I will wait on the NL Pure Rangefinder that will allow you to download and use any ballistic app!

I wouldn’t expect a rf in the Pure Line. Where did you hear that?

I have played with the swaro rangefinders and for me it's a hard no. I do like great glass but would never sacrifice the user interface with the ballistics and inputs. There may be someone on par with the Revics currently but there is no one better. Of all by hunts I have never almost missed an animal because of poor glass. I have missed opportunities jacking with a ballistics solution.

That is why I don’t have the Swaro. I think they recognize the shortcomings

I have heard zero. But they kept the Balance Spotter under wraps when in development. If their engineers think it’s a good idea then they can make a NL Pure RF

🤦🏻‍♂️ I tried to hold out for these but ended up ordering the new Leica's Monday. Thinking about if it's worth it to order these and compare the performance and optical quality and return whichever falls short...

My Revic BR12 will be delivered today actually, and I’m excited to try it out. It’s gonna go with me next week on an elk hunt with Chris and Milo.

The BR12s are in the house. They will be looking over elk this weekend and hopefully giving me a firing solution.

As you noted Tracts are made in China while there scopes are made by LOW in Japan. The reason for this, per one of the John’s at Tract confirmed by DLO, is that LOW does not make range finding binoculars. No idea where or how the Revic are made but based on this it’s not LOW.

Everybody’s eyes are different but I strongly disagree with this assessment of the glass in the Tract. I have Zeiss SFLs and Leica Trinovids, to my eyes the Tract glass is on par with the Trinovids but not quite as good as the SFLs. In either there is not enough of a difference that you would spot an animal with one but not the other.

I don't think the glass is bad just not good enough to compare to other options but like you said everyone's eyes are different. I moved away from testing with a resolution chart because I don't think it tells everything in the field but will most likely go back to it just for the audience. I 100% agree with the last statement.

The glass is the best you can source from Japan. IMO, great glass for my eyes and I'll give the BR12 a workout on an elk hunt starting this weekend. Glassing is a worthwhile activity here in the west. I'll bring my BR10s along for comparison which the only difference will be field of view but is 12x better than 10x? We'll see.

All day glassing with these for something like sheep hunting…. Would you go 10x or 12x?

Got my BR12s looking over this area. The aspens at the bottom are the private land boarder.

A ton of elk are over on the other side of the valley and these binos pick them out like nobodies business.

Ladd - What distance was the elk, and did you take the photo through your Swaro?
Nice BR12's.

Nice BR12's.
That spike was 1270 yards. And 100 yards into private.

Spotted him with the BR12s then put the Swaro and Olin on him for video and pics.

The elk across this valley are 1800 yards out.

The furthest range I am able to get with the BR12s is 2573 yards.

There he is. Picked it out with the BR12. Confirmed with the Swaro and Olin. Private? Not sure yet. View attachment 26784View attachment 26785
@Ladd are you getting an fog in the mornings? If so, would you mind taking some pictures of how thick the fog is and what you able and not able to range in it. Also, how far and into the fog you're able to range? I'd like to use it as a comparison to the Leica Geovid Max review I'm working on.

No fog here. Pretty much dry and warm. Cool mornings and evening and not very cold. Too warm really.

Probably not the same but it’s very smoky this evening due to a prescribed burn in the area. The BR12s ranged the peak on the ridge over there at 2668 yards. IMG_5945.jpegIMG_5946.jpeg

I have found them to be pretty good in the fog but no rangefinder is perfect in those conditions.
That's exactly what I'm trying to distinguish. Everyone says the Sig and Revic's have thr best laser for environmental conditions, but they never post the conditions they're referring to so I have nothing to judge good, bad, or indifferent off of.

I know my old Sig Kilo3000's wouldn't range if you even said the word "Fog".

As you know fog is pretty dynamic but I have generally found if I can see it it will range it but I will not go as far as saying it will be 100%.
