Have any of you guys shot any of the NRL Hunter matches? I shot my first couple of matches this year and they were a blast. I really liked the format for testing myself in all kinds of hunting scenarios. I'm planning to shoot the finally in Idaho at the end of August so let me know if any of you will be there and I'll try to say hi!

My first match was at Blue Ridge in Eastern WA. A lot of rolling hills and tall grass to contend with so a lot of shots off tripods or tall bipods.

My second match was at Rock Lake in Eastern WA. There were a lot more obstacles like rocks or this fence below.

I started shooting rimfire prs matches half of last season and this is my first full season. I’ve been really enjoying that! I was really hoping to get down state side to try my hand at the nrl hunter series but with everything going on around home (bad health news within the family, little man 2 years old was also struggling with something for a while, and my wedding coming up) it’s held me at home. Next year we are planning to do a couple though. 5C97B127-A615-4D6C-9CFF-A0EA2E444512.jpeg 27E99909-2222-4962-948B-08B2292B86E9.jpeg 7006BFC7-B569-4B11-A8B2-A4619CECC98A.jpeg 912BF447-94C2-42E6-8DB2-7569A041D702.jpeg 32A542EB-8EB6-4F72-B15F-EE5436A6FE89.jpeg

I was at Rock Lake as well. It was the first shooting competition I have done. I am excited to shoot more next year!

There is different divisions to compete in. There is a 16 lb, 12 lb, factory, and team division. Justin's gun probably fell in to the 16 lb division. Every division has a minimum power factor unless you shoot factory ammo. Minimum is 380,000 which is weight x velocity. Example - 140 gr @ 2715 = 380,100 which would be the slowest you could run that bullet.

I was only able to shoot rock lake this year but did it as a team which is a ton of fun. I really hope this style of competition continues to grow. I think it is a perfect way to practice for hunting scenarios but also is a good mix for guys that just like to shoot steel.

Shot 3 last year; New Mexico, Idaho and Utah. Was headed to the championship match in Colorado in August and got sick just days before. I was beside myself as i'd been planning on attending the championship match ever since they announced the series Summer of 2020. Have shot two this year; Wyoming and, again, Utah. I think if one didn't care about points or prizes the "Skills Division" would be a great way to flesh out your gear and techniques. 1/2 the cost and all the shooting. Power factors and weight limitations do not apply. Most shoot 6.5 CM/PRC. A few larger 7's show up occasionally. One lady shot her 280 Rem Ruger #1 last year in New Mexico. I ran my lighten 6.5x47 PRS style race gun in two matches last year then decided to run my LW 300 Win Mag for shits and giggles. It ran quite well with 175 gr Match Burners. Heaviest I've seen/heard was Scott Satterlee, match creator, running is 375 Ruger. If you're into the competitive game, power factor really comes into play when the point spread is not all that big. Ties, and their are LOTS of them, are broken by power factor. I beat 3 other guys with the same points because I pushed a 145 Match Burner to 2730 in my 6.5x47. Their was a 6 way tie in the Utah match. 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.....tie breaker.

I’d love to try one. Most of them are on Saturday’s which kills me with my work schedule. Maybe after I retire at 45 I’ll be able to go. Lol

I retired the first time at 44, retirement didn't work for me. I have to work- just in my DNA

As mentioned above. There are different classes. I shot my 6.5-06 Ackley in the Open Heavy because that is the rifle I had that would work for me. I would prefer to shoot one of my lighter hunting rifles, but I hate shooting the barrels out of them in competitions. Even with a heavier rifle, I learn a lot every time I shoot a match like this. Really great practice that forces you into uncomfortable scenarios while on the clock.

Who is going to the championship? I would love to meet some fellow Long Range Only or Rokslide guys.

Right now, I'm planning on bringing my camper so my wife can go. Plus, it's a blast to hang out on Friday and Saturday nights and get to know other shooters/hunters.

I am going. But truthfully if it’s going to be 100 degrees out. I might consider my life choices.

Received my championship invite. Didn't think i'd get invited; poor showing in the two matches I competed in this year. Promised the wife i'd go to a wedding with her that weekend. Told her about the invite. She said go! She's awesome! Told her i'd still go to the wedding with her. I'm awesomerrrr!!

I'm headed to the Finale as well and will shoot it as a team. I've shot 3 or 4 as an individual and much prefer the team. It's a ton of fun.

I shot my first one in the light division and have shot heavy ever since. As a matter of fact, I've added weight to my hunting rifle after shooting all the matches. It's now over 16 lbs. I just found it not that heavy after running around at the matches. And, a heavier rifle makes it easier to spot my shots while hunting.
