Excited to hear your thoughts. Been debating one for a while but I general like a more vertical grip like the LRH.

I still reserve the right to change my mind after using the thing, but my initial impressions are this is the best stock available commercially only second to the Nexus, which you cannot purchased and a 700 clone would not fit into it anyways. The only things I don’t like about it are the fact that it has a butt hook, which I think is dumb and it doesn’t have a Picatinny at the front of the arca rail.

And that's with the Zeus quick change, isn't it? That right there would make for a really nice platform for multiple barrels if that was a desire.
Yes. My Terminus Zeus QC with a short Creedmor barrel. the MDT CRBN is a nice option for this, for tripod shooting with its molded in integral arca. It has a large barrel channel to support all barrel contours. I didn’t bed the Zeus into it but it has maintained accuracy all winter.

A nice setup for tripod shooting and for short action, low recoiling rifles. I would not for magnums and heavy recoiling rifles. I have had my ARCA bipods slip so I’m all pic rails now.

It is a nice option. I switched mine out to a Manners PHA for this thermal setup.

If I recall you can kinda fix it by putting an M-Lok pic rail up front. I'm with Furman though, they should have just molded in the front as a pic rail. Problem solved, and I agree on the hook at the back. However, that hand shelf looks amazing, especially the support for the second finger like the Nexus has.

Forgot one thing. Did you see slip with the legs canted forward or straight down?

Shooting prone with the bipod legs straight down with the spikes in the dirt.

The MDT CRBN feels good in the hand. The slightly vertical grip and palm fit my hand well.

I was thinking about this stock for my 7PRC, but I don’t think it will work with the SMR rifle barrel which I believe is a M24 contour not a Sendero

It will work just fine. Mine is an M24 Bartlein barrel.

That’s good to hear.
I check my emails after I posted this and seen this from MDT. But, actual experience is otherwise by the sound of it. Am waiting for the review before deciding. The manners PH adjustable is my first choice as of now.

Do any of you know if the Hunter DBM LA M5 bottom metal fit the CRBN LA?
Or will the Hawkins LA hunter Mag fit the MDT hunt BM?

Just bought a factory second on there random sale. Hoping to have it next week to play with

Will be testing it on the 22bra I think, but if I like it it may move to the smokeless muzzy

The crbn showed up tonight, and put the muzzy in it just to see the weight savings and boy did it make a big difference.

I will begin playing with it after this heatwave breaks. The foundation and crbn will come out together to test both.

I was almost convinced I wouldn’t like the stock from pictures as I prefer a more vertical grip like the lrh but from very minor playing around and dryfire this evening im shocked how well it fit, and how comfortable the stock feels. IMG_0294.jpegIMG_0293.jpegIMG_0291.jpeg

Ryan or Ladd,
Do either of you know if Unknown Munitions' bottom metal with the XL mags (3.100" internal space) would have issue in the CRBN? With that, I'd plan to run a Vesper short action to make that about as simple as possible. I wouldn't think there would be an issue, but since it's somewhat of a fixed chassis design, I wasn't sure if anything internally would conflict with that.

I don't know for sure but I don't see why it would not work. Unknown says all of their mags fit M5 inlets.

Right. I didn't think there would be an issue. I just wasn't sure if there was something in the chassis just below the feed ramp of the action that would hinder it, but I figured there wouldn't be anything in the way there.

It's the only short action scenario that makes sense for the likes of a 6.5 PRC, SAUM, or Sherman Max.

I still think 3.1 is limiting. I won't do it again unless its a creedmoor sized case.

If it matters, my 6.5 Max is 3.097” to be precise, with a 144LRHt at like .025 off. I use 3.2” comfortably. I’d stick with SS on 2.980 or 3.1” mags personally.

Well, technically, they’ve updated the internal dimension to 3.150”, so that gives a bit more freedom. Just thinking of the platform on this being short or long options only. Doesn’t really matter for me at this point considering it’s not in left handed yet.

Gotcha. With your slick pills the OAL is probably on the long side.?
Well, a 6.5 PRC or Sherman Max with a yet unreleased bullet results in 3.07" OAL when touching the lands, so that length works just fine. The scope I have planned for this does much better with a short action with a split pic rail like the Vesper. That's part of the allure for the short action without a full rail, and wouldn't be a penalty with a fast 6.5 using the UM magazine.

Well it’s still very early but I’ve managed to put a few hundred rounds through the crbn. I’ve had it on a rimfire to play with and got 250 down it with that, moved it to the 6.5 prc and put another 50 on it, then over to the 223 for 200 rounds. So far I really like this stock.
It feels really good in the hands, carrys really well and the arca is smooth yet I haven’t any anything slip yet. The finish is great. I’m so use to the more vertical grip I was convinced I wouldn’t like this stock but I find it to be very natural feeling, the thumbshelf is spot on for my hand and the distance to the trigger is perfect. I have the hunter bottom metal and so far I don’t love it and might move it around or swap it for a Hawkins. The cheek piece is easily adjustable and seems to hold its position really well. It’s extremely light. I thought the lrh was light but this is much lighter. Going to put a few hundred more through it and going to take it out for some coyote hunting over the next few weeks and then will test it on the smokeless muzzy under heavy recoil. It’s most likely going to reside on that set up for my annual deer hunting to help lighten it up.

Pleasantly surprised, I’m really liking this stock.

I’m loving it as well but hate the butt hook. I just don’t get the need. I also don’t love the full arca. As Ladd said the rrs attachment comes loose.

I would prefer an arca to a pic rail on the end myself as I’ve had arca bipods work loose under recoil. The butt hook doesn’t bother me too much but like you said I’d rather not had it for better bag riding.

I have a Tikka with a Proof Research 22 inch barreled action on the way in 6.5 Creedmoor. I also have an MDT CRBN stock on the way for it. I plan to scope it with a Trijicon Tenmile HX 5x25x50 FFP MOA. Looking forward to putting these pieces together and getting the initial zero done.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but again, I'd really love to see this stock without a butt hook. The grip angle appears similar to the CLYMR, which I like.

Great review. How do you compare the MDT CRBN to a Manners PHA. What puts the MDT on top over the Manners? I suspect from the review, it’s the grip. I’m looking at these two for the 7 PRC build.

It’s the grip. I place its importance over the negatives.

Great review. For me it's the grip and distance from grip to trigger is perfect, also not being restricted to 13.50-13.75" length of pull without some major stock work. I'm not a small guy and after some testing and shooting I shoot and feel a lot better at 13.25". I didn't think a 1/4" would make much difference after years of the cookie cutter 13.50", but it does for me. Probably just all in my head.lol

Thanks. The adjustable LOP is a great feature in my mind also.

Would one of you guys measure distance from grip to trigger? Maybe from about where the middle finger of the shooting hand would rest to the trigger? Thanks

Requires some mill work at the front of the magazine well, but the Unknown bottom metal makes the short action mag cartridges a viable option. Here’s my 6.5 Western with .235” freebore. Almost finished. Just need to get the flat shoe on the Bix 'n Andy Tac Sport Pro. The bipod isn't mine. I will either continue with the Tricer I have now, or get another Hatch, one of the newer styles for an arca rail. I love the Hatch. Oh, and this is sporting a 20" PXT Sendero.IMG_2984 Reduced.jpgIMG_2985 Reduced.jpg

Well I threw the crbn on the smokeless where i anticipate it will stay. I’ve had it on a rimfire, 6.5 prc, 223 rem, 22bra so far for testing. Originally my 45 cal wore an mdt timbr which is pretty heavy and handled the heavy recoil well but didn’t carry the best. Well the weight savings didn’t do this thing a favour as far as recoils concerned. Holy smokes does it boot now! 300gr arrowhead at 2750 ish fps. It handles well and feels smooth on recoil, shoots exceptionally well still but those couple pounds makes a difference.

Still loving this stock overall, might grab a long action to try as well!
