Anyone had good luck with something other than H1000 in your 300WM loads? It is proving too hard for me to find. Running 215 Bergers with a 28

Yes, I am running Hogdon H4350 at 67.5 grains in my 300 Win Mag with ADG brass and 215 OTM Bergers including 208 grain match Hornady. Federal GM215M primers and or CCI 250's. With a 28" barrel. I am trying hotter loads this weekend if weather is good enough. I'm right around 2870 fps. H4350 powder is readily available many places. Accurate as the H1000 is but I dont think that I be able to get the velocities up much higher without running into pressure signs. I'll post what my new findings are once I send some down range. I'm going to try Alliant after I figure out what is available to give me a couple of options.

RL 26 is a fine option. H1000 is the best overall package out there, but 26 is nearly as accurate and faster.
Never had any luck with retumbo and rl 22 is too temp sensitive. 7828 might be worth while.

I would like to try RL26 but it's not available either. It seems like all the low burners are not available. Some VV 560 and 565 are.

I understand RL26 is more sensitive to Temperature than the H1000 & H4350.

I was hoping for 2,900fps with the 215 Hybrids & Extreme Powders myself.

Try IMR 7977, it's really similar to H1000.

N565 might be worth a try. Don't kniw of anyone running it in the win mag yet, but it should have the right burn rate for it.

Old IMR 7828 use to make 180's scream from a 300 Weatherby. Might work in the 300 win too but may not be temp stable.

Jeff
I use 7828 in my current 300wm barrel.

I emailed Hogdon about powder availability and asked specifically what was similar in performance for two powders. He stated that IMR 8133 is similar to Retumbo and IMR 7977 is very similar to H1000. I have some 8133 but have not tried it yet. I'll get some 7977 to try as well.

8133 is very similar to H1000 but is far from Retumbo, (it burns much faster than Retumbo. )

Contacted Berger on this for loading data, was sent some preliminary loading recommendations (pretty conservative) but other powders that looked good were RETUMBO 77.9 grains, Magnum 76.0, Norma MRP 2 73.8, Magpro 73.4, and RL-25 72.0 grains. No data for 8133 or RL-26 but apparently they were working on that. My current load with 212 ELD-X is 74.5 grains of RL-25 and 77 grains of 8133 both safe in my rifle (ADG Brass, CCI 250 primer oal 3.510.
