“3:30 in the mornin’, not a soul in sight”. Great song to drive out of the mountains in the dark with and the theme for these pics. These are of camp this morning at 3:30 as I packed to come home. Cool shots from my phone.

Great pics! I'll be seeing a similar sight tomorrow night. Heading into a back country camp to guide archery hunters for a week. The weather has cooled off and looks to be a great week for elk hunting. I had to quit bow hunting because of bad shoulders, so this is how I get my elk hunting fix. I'm excited!

That is a huge deer camp! Is it all one group or multiple camps close together?
Joe, I treated myself to a guided deer hunt. My first ever guided hunt outside So. Africa. Some great country I have not been in for more than 20-years back when me and some buddies thought we could be the ones to kill the "Popeye" buck. This was the country and I booked with Star Valley Outfitters out of Alpine, WY with my 1-less than max preference points. I figured I couldn't use them at a better place. Bob and Christine Beck are the owners and they have many experienced guides, wranglers, horses and cook to take care of the hunters and help them succeed. I even took a hot shower yesterday. It truly is country where you will have long range opportunities. It is also very rugged country and it will try you and your ability to drive and stay on a horse. I cried a couple times and almost died 5-times.

We sat on a glassing spot all day and the bulls were going crazy up and down the canyon we were watching. From the 5-bulls that we heard and saw, we heard over a 100 bugles and chuckles. One small 6-pt bull with most of the cows, for now, laid down in this muddy swamp and covered himself in mud and his antlers were dripping with grass. So cool. A small 5-pt and 4-pt were pushing him to take some cows but only the 5-pt took a few. We didn't see the other 2-bulls we heard on the ride in. With the cooler weather that rolled in this week, the rut is on. Have fun out there.

That was one of my jams when we’d head to a duck hole on public ground. But it was more like “12:30 in the morning” so we could beat the rush. Sleep in the cold on the boat just to hope to kill some birds.

Looks awesome man. Wish all of y’all the best of luck.

Camp looks like a scene out of a movie.
That’s dream stuff right there.
