Just listened to the Avery Adventures podcast with BAT (Bruce and Daryle). Got me excited about this action!

It looks like a pretty sweet action. Can’t wait.

They do make the best actions IMO. I also have one on order. We will be getting them at the same time.

BAT Machine Actions were not even on my radar. Thanks for sharing the info on the Podcast!

Ryan, I presume prefit barrels will work with their actions since they have such tight tolerances? It was not explicitly specified on any information I could find.

The actions are definitely held to tight enough tolerances that pre-fits could be made for them but I am unaware of any currently available. Any good gunsmith should be able to cut and chamber a blank from the tenon Prints.

This! But don’t forget on some of there actions like the vampire and bumblebee you have to send them your stock your planning on using so they can inlet it for the flat bottom action.

Yes, the Vampire and the Bumblebee are flat bottoms.

It would be very easy to have a gunsmith do a prefit. I have two HR actions. Each made 1.5 years apart. One magnum and one Lapua BF. I can switch barrels, and bolts. Head space is within .001

I just read it again, the receiver is a combination of aluminium and steel.
Aluminum receiver body with a steel insert. The steel insert takes care of all critical pressure points. Bolt is a typical bolt.

I just picked one up. Going to build a 338prc on it with a 28" 11tw barrel. Hoping to run 250 bergers at 2900.
I am waiting on a rifle not just the action just to clarify.

I am very interested in this. This action intrigues me, and I would like one some day. Ever since learning about this action, I have wanted to do a flat bottom action build.

What I really want to know is where they sourced that stock!! I’ve been looking for one for a while and Alterra isn’t taking any orders 😕
I ordered it in February. I got it in May and sent it to BAT.

I recently acquired (2) Vampire actions from Wheeler. I also have a VR and HR along with some Defiance. I must say that the Vampire is topping #1 favorite. It’s very smooth. Both on bolt close and opening. It’s hard to tell that a fired case is in the chamber when extracting. Feels like an empty chamber. It also handles a lot of pressure before showing any signs. This is from the hardened insert in the front of the action.

Curious how the Bat and a Kratos stack up side by side on everything.

Doing some research this morning I found that CarbonSix will do a prefit barrel for BAT actions including the Vampire.

They sent me a 338 blank last week and they have been nothing but stellar through the ordering and building process. I may order something from them for my Vampire.

I put a C6 on my wife’s 6 creed. It’s a great shooting rifle.

Thanks for taking the time to follow up.

Its nice to have all the action options for people to decide what is best for them.

Bat is one I will consider for another custom.

I enjoyed the review!

Nice review. It amazes me that you can stand there for 13 minutes and just go on like that without a script or notes. You have vast amounts of knowledge.

I have a Vampire action to try out in a McMillan Game Hunter when the barrel comes in later this fall. Sounds like your review confirms I snatched this action up for good reasons.

Nice review. Only thing I could ad is the aluminum is anodized then Teflon coated. Its slicker than steel. I have the new aluminum Neuvo LR actions I begged Bullet central to get them to make and they are slicker than the steel models. I love these aluminum Bats.
Good point with the anodizing. It certainly matters as does the Teflon.
