My 25 caliber rifle project started last August when I ordered my second barrel from Carbonsix. I was originally going to build a 25SST, but changed my mind about a month ago to build off a long action. I sold the stock, bottom metal and magazine and acquired the long action components.

I am waiting for my second Terminus action to arrive and then the action and barrel will be sent off to Alex Wheeler. Once I get the barreled action back it will go to Axisworks to be completed. This rifle will look very similar to the 300 Norma I built last fall. I am going to run my Thunderbeast ultra 9 gen 1 on this rifle.

Terminus Kratos
Carbonsix sendero 22” 1-7 twist
Mesa Precision arms altitude, glacier
Hawkins bottom metal black anodized
Wyatts CFE 13
Triggers tech special
SRS rail
Hawkins medium rings
NF NX8 4-32 SFP

I have acquired the following components for this rifle.

Lapua 6.5PRC brass
Berger 133GR elite hunter
VV N565
CCI br2 primers

I am hoping to have the rifle finished by October.

Sounds like a nice project

I'll follow along. Sounds great 👍.

I necked down and prepped 101 pieces of Lapua brass today. I love when you get to the bottom of the the Lapua box and there is one extra piece. First time I have necked down brass and it went nice and easy. I ordered 300 pieces of brass. I am going to wait and see how this rifle performs, but with all the components I have I am thinking a 6PRC with a 109 or 115 Berger would be fun. One project at a time though. Here is a picture of all the pieces minus the action and a picture of the Norma I built last year for a comparison of how similar they will be.

I would definitely try to find a deal on steel barrel if I did that. Not paying for a carbon barrel for short barrel life.

Credit card got hit for my action. Hopefully it will get shipped this week. Barrel will hopefully be back this week or next from straight jacket. Once those parts arrive it’s off to the gunsmith for bedding, assembly and cerakote. I loaded up the rounds last week and they just need to be set to final seating depth once I measure the rifle. I also switched to ADG brass.

I’ve got a bunch of Lapua PRC brass, a 25 might be fun. Does it get you anything over a 25-284 or a 25 SAUM?

Based on load data from unknown munitions website for the 6.5 prc, 6.5 saum and 6.5-284 with same bullet the saum would be a few FPS faster and the 284 would be 100 FPS slower. But that is purely off 6.5 data.

Picked up the 25PRC today. I just need to mount the NX8. It is almost identical to the 300 Norma I built last year. The stock texturing and color is quite a bit different between the two mesa stocks. Hopefully the kratos runs as smooth as the Zeus.

Edit: I got the scope mounted and the finished barrel length came out to 22.25”.

I don’t have a modified case or a fired case so I started long and kept seating the bullet deeper until I got the bolt to close with ease. Measurements came to CBTO 2.260 the COAL is 2.920. Shorter then I would have liked but it will work.

I went out this morning to do a pressure test and check velocities. I’m using new ADG brass with N565 and BR2’s.

57.5 was the tightest with velocities of 3035 and 3017. 58 might be the slightest bit of pressure with velocities of 3044, 3061, 3065 and 3067. 58.5 had stiff bolt lift.

I had one round that would not chamber. When I got home I measured to the shoulder and it was .002 over the the longest of my fired brass. I found two other pieces of my 100 that are also long.

I loaded up 57.2, 57.5, 57.8 and 58 to check next weekend.

Hopefully I can find what I am looking for and I can fine tune a load after that.
