6.5 prc in prs?

Is this allowable? I’m trying to condense calibers and shoot a prs match this year. I could throw together another rifle pretty easy but would like to shoot something I hunt with.

I don't think there is anything in the rules to stop you. I actually think the prc was really developed with prs in mind. I do think it will be hard to be competitive vs lighter recoiling cartridges which are easier on throats and will shoot smaller over more shots.

I am not into either game but you might look at NRL hunter.

Actual PRS matches have a 3200fps upper limit on velocity, but most 6.5PRC ammo will be under that unless you are using light bullets. Other than that its more a matter of recoil as noted.

But if you are wanting to use the match for hunting practice, I would be looking at NRL hunter matches for sure. I actually like the format, though I have not been able to shoot one myself as I live in Australia.

But the NRL hunter format of "find, range, engage" really helps embed skills you using in hunting. And the format means that you shoot 4 rounds a stage if you hit every target with the first shot, or a maximum of 8 rounds if you use a follow up shot on each stage. "power factor" is used as a tie breaker, so if scores are tied, the heavier recoiling cartridge gets the higher place in the match. Thats how John Pynch won the 2021 "Grand Slam" shooting a 6.5PRC over a tied score with a 6.5 Creed shooter.

I run a 6.5 prc for our local PRS/ELR matches and have no issue with it. Speed is under 3200 and works very well for me.

It will be fine. Harder to control the recoil of that ba a slow small 6mm. But run it

I wouldn’t run a 6.5 PRC in a prs match. Some stages have 10-12 rounds in 2 minutes. Some guys run 6.5 creeds. But the small 6mm are dominant. Sure you could to try out a match. But that barrel will be hurting after.
