We set a piece of steel up at our ELR spot the other day for the 2000 yard shot. The steel is pretty heavy so we ended up at 2002 yds by the time we got up the hill where we thought it would be far enough. I have a terrapin that is capable of those ranges and it picked up the steel with no problem mounted on a tripod.
All I can say is that's a long ways.
Wind conditions at that distance are crazy hard to read and change fast.
VERY CHALLENGING SHOT.
Notice the size difference between the 300 grain 338 bullet and the 208 grain 30 cal bullet.

The plate is 24 x24, so just over moa.
There was a dialing error on my first 3 or 4 shots and we couldn't see any impacts so I stopped shooting. I looked at my windage dial and thought it was zeroed but it was at 6 minutes right.
I guess a 6 can look like a 0.
My buddy with the 300wm said he wanted to give it a go, so he threw a few at the plate. He was really close, within half a minute or so but couldn't quite get on the plate. We found out latter that he did have 1 impact.
After he shot I just had to try again thats when I discovered the windage error. Putting in the correct windage I was able to connect with the plate. We could see 2 of the three hits in the scope and the wind was really starting to pick up so we went to check out the steel. 3 hits at 2002 and 1 for my buddy and we called it a day, a very good day!

Great job shooting and getting things figured out !
This is a learning experience for you . I'm sure you will drag that plate further up !

Dont let the 338 Edge fool ya !
It wants to go long ! You keep up the good shooting ! The Wind will always be your Nemesis!
I'm back east and trying to get a few long range spots figured out .

I have been out to 3027 yards with one of my 338 Edges ! Lots of hard work to get that far !
Oh and the Wind Gods were on my Side too !
Best of Luck to you !

I'm sure I missed the build info in another thread .
If you get a min. post it up please !
All of my 338 Edge builds have been 30 " barrels both heavy fluted and Carbons .

Most of the 338's I have seem to like the 300 gr bergers Otm or EH & H-1000 90 to 92 gr. Seems to be average . About 2850 to 2884 ft.per.sec.
I have several different powders to try out now . I'm also testing two Vortex Razors ,
a Gen 2 4.5 x 27 and the new Gen 3 6 x 36 x 56 .
Excited to try them out !

I've been very happy with the rifle since I've had it and its a proven performer.
Longest kill so far is a doe at 730yds.
Headed to the hills for some shooting and a little validation on my buddies new 300wm!

My friends and I don't shoot organized matches, just round up who's available and set up some steel. We shoot 12 inch plates out to 1500yds and then step up to the 24 inch plate. I made the 24 inch plate in anticipation for moa at 2500yds. Not sure when that will happen, but we shoot often. I dont have any desire to walk one in and claim a hit. I strive for moa and being able to correctly read the conditions. I will say my wind reading skill has gone up tremendously since we went past 1500yds.
We are shooting hunting rifles, bipod and rear bag. By hunting season hunting distance shots seem pretty easy!

The bullet splash makes me giggle. Man, I just need to win this lottery tonight so I can get one of these beautiful 338's! Great shooting!

Thank you, we have some pretty bad fires here right now so it's limiting the distance we can shoot but definitely wanting to get out long again if the conditions improve

Excellent shooting Scott! I was in No. Idaho earlier this year and shooting my 300wm. The load was the Berger 210 HVLD at 2888 f/s (Berger 215 gr N/A.) Had excellent results out to 1400 yards but, just couldn't get that combo to work out at longer ranges. What load was your friends 300wm load that allowed him to hit at 2000?

He's shooting the 208 with re23.at 3040fps. He's definitely pushing it a little harder than I would but it hits like a hammer. He killed a deer with it last season and it was pretty dead.
Out to 1500yds isn't to much of a challenge for him and we've been over a mile quite a bit

Thanks Scott. I am hoping the 215s get here before too long. I aim to try those and some N570 to keep the stability up there to hit at 1 mi.

The Berger 215 has a G7 BC of .354 vs .32 for the 210HVLD.

Interestingly, the Berger 208 has a .354 BC, same as the 215; that coupled with the higher velocity your friend is running probably accounts for his success at hits past 1500 yes.

Thanks again.

Magnett
